Did you know that it’s possible to feed your sweet tooth without having all the refined sugar and additives, too? Dates are one way to nourish your Earth Element without completely hijacking your blood sugar!
I’ve created a simple outline for kitchen staples and recipes within my book to support each element throughout each season. To support your digestion during the Late Summer season, consider trying one of my favorite (and silly-simple) dessert recipes. This one can be modified every which way. Don’t like almonds? Use a walnut or cashew butter instead. Don’t like coconut? Consider sprinkling with sesame seeds instead. Want a more savory option? Consider stuffing with tahini and sprinkling with bleu cheese (and/or bacon). The date is your oyster!
Ingredients for Stuffed Dessert Dates
- ½ cup nut butter of your choice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger (optional, for warmth)
- 1 tablespoon raw local honey (optional, the date might be sweet enough for some!)
- 10 Medjool dates, sliced in half with the pits removed
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
Directions:
- Mix together the nut butter, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger (if using), and honey.
- Place a dollop of the nut butter inside each date half.
- Sprinkle with coconut, and enjoy!
