Microneedling

An invitation for your skin to heal from scarring, sun damage, age and liver spots, among other skin challenges. Also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), microneedling gives your skin back its firmness and brightness.

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), has gained popularity as a skin-rejuvenating treatment thanks to its ability to reduce wrinkles and acne scars in addition to stimulating skin cell regeneration, reducing the appearance of stretch marks, and generally making your skin look younger and healthier. But what exactly is microneedling? What are the benefits? And most importantly, can it give you firmer, smoother, healthier skin? We answer all these questions and more below!

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a highly effective skin care treatment, quickly becoming the go-to method for many people to regenerate and renew their complexion from aging and damage. This treatment goes deep into the skin’s surface to promote new cell growth and collagen production. It is used to get rid of scars, sun spots, wrinkles, and fine lines on your face as well as to brighten up dull looking skin. In addition to treating these concerns, microneedling also benefits people suffering from sun damage or acne scarring. The treatment can smooth over scars on your chest and body too.

Benefits of Microneedling

This procedure boosts collagen production and gives your skin a refreshed look. Microneedling creates microscopic punctures in the outermost layer of the epidermis. Collagen and elastin are stimulated in the process, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while promoting new cell growth. It also helps to significantly promote absorption of topical ingredients. Therefore, we use hyaluronic acid which deeply moisturizes and seriously smooths your skin. As an added bonus, we also use apple stem cells during our microneedling treatments to rejuvenate even the most Colorado sun-damaged skin. All this means fresher, brighter, firmer, healthier looking skin with improved elasticity. In addition to hyaluronic acid and apple stem cells, at Inner Ocean we also use LED light therapy. Celluma light therapy mimics a natural photobiochemical reaction process to deliver safe, UV-free low-level light energy through FDA cleared, high intensity LED devices. Celluma machines are FDA-cleared to treat a variety of skin and pain conditions to regain and maintain your body and skin’s natural vitality without the concern of dangerous side effects.

Our integrated approach to health and healing means incorporating aspects of Psychology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Acupuncture, Nutrition Counseling, and Herbal Medicine into how we practice.

Treatment Specifics

Each session lasts about 60 minutes including microneedling and light therapy. Since microneedling is minimally invasive, there is little downtime or recovery time needed afterward; however, we recommend not receiving more than one microneedling treatment per month to give your skin time to reveal the full effects of treatment.

For general skin support, a minimum of 3 sessions are recommended, for scarring, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles 4-6 sessions are recommended. At our center, we offer individual sessions or packages of 3, 5, and 12. Our practitioner can evaluate your skin concerns and recommend the ideal package for you.

People who are pregnant are not recommended to receive microneedling, also those on chemotherapy or other immunosuppressive medications should consult with their physical before receiving microneedling.
