Nutrition

Looking in-depth at patterns around nourishment, nutrition, and your microbiome can help us turn the food we eat–into medicine. Medicine that not only feeds our bodies but also nourishes our spirits.

Nutrition Counseling

Have you been curious about the role that nutrition plays in your health? Looking in-depth at patterns around nourishment, nutrition, and your microbiome can help us turn the food we eat–into medicine. Medicine that not only feeds our bodies but also nourishes our spirits. Often simple changes in our diets can have a dramatic impact on our overall health and well-being. But how do we know what to change? What to incorporate? What to let go of? With all the research and opinions out there, how do we know what’s right for us?

There are many factors to consider when looking at nutrition including your constitution, the season you find yourself in, the ecosystem that surrounds you, and any specific health challenges you may be experiencing such as issues with digestion, absorption, and inflammation. And there are many ways to use your diet as a strategy to overcome these specific health challenges. These topics and more are what we get to cover in-depth during our time together at your new client intake appointment. Not only do we look at the kinds of foods you are eating, drinks you are drinking, and medicines you are taking, we also look at cravings, and aversions because they give us clues to any underlying nutritional deficiencies that may be present.

We gather all of this information and together come up with a plan so that what you put into your body becomes your best ally on your healing journey. As part of any plan, we also begin addressing long-held patterns and beliefs around nourishment and nutrition so that you can feel more confident in your relationship with food and how it impacts your physical, mental, and emotional health. For example, nutritional principles in Autumn are different from nutritional principles in Spring. There are foods you can be eating that reduce anxiety and broths you can drink that strengthen your bones and give you stamina, and foods that strengthen your immune system.

During each acupuncture appointment you have at our clinic, our practitioners will check in and make any important recommendations for nutritional support. If you find that you want additional nutritional support, consider grabbing the clinic founder’s book Everyday Chinese Medicine for a plethora of seasonal nutritional principles, guidance for working with specific imbalances, and some of Mindi’s favorite recipes.
