The Detox Bath Recipe

Whether you simply want to support your body’s natural detoxification process or have recently made some big changes in your diet or substance use, The Detox Bath is a great place to begin setting your body free. Not only is it superbly relaxing, but it also provides all the necessary minerals and herbs to help your kidneys, liver, and digestive tract “give up the garbage” and let YOU begin to restore your health.

I first read about this bath in Julia’s Ross book, The Mood Cure where she addresses some pretty major detoxing symptoms and warnings. I have added to her recommended bath recipe.

Detoxing symptoms include Headache, Skin Rash, Fatigue, Insomnia, Stomach ache, Nausea, Body ache, Sinus congestion, Sore throat, Constipation, Depression, or even full-blown flu-like symptoms!

Detoxing from prescription drugs and alcohol can leave you with some really icky and sometimes dangerous symptoms. Please invite health care practitioners on your team for extra support. Please do consult a practitioner if you are thinking of coming off of a substance you have been on for a long time. Your practitioner can be aware of any medical red flags for you and guide you through some of the uncomfortable terrain.

Detox Bath Ingredients

  • 4 cups Epsom Salt
  • 2 tea bags Detox Tea (Traditional Medicinals is yummy!)
  • 4 capsules Digestive Enzymes (break open into water)
  • 4-5 droppers full-liquid Kava extract
  • 5-8 drops Lavender essential oil

After at least 30 minutes (up to an hour!) in the bath, get out and hop into the shower and scrub your skin from head to toe with strokes that always go toward the heart. Then rest.

You can repeat this bath twice per day and for several days a week, depending on the severity of your symptoms and the level of support you are seeking.
